CUNA Engaged in FCRA, Cybersecurity Hearings this Week

CUNA will be engaged with a Senate Banking Committee hearing on the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) this week, in addition to other activities in both chambers. The House and Senate are also expected to consider several natural resources bills.

The Senate Banking Committee will conduct “An Overview of the Credit Bureaus and the Fair Credit Reporting Act” Thursday at 10 a.m. and it will be streamed Live on the committee’s Web site. Witnesses will be two Consumer Financial Protection Bureau staff members.

Other hearings this week include: 

  • Wednesday (10 a.m.) House Financial Services Committee markup of 10 investment-related bills;
  • Wednesday (10 a.m.) Senate Commerce Committee hearing titled “Complex Cybersecurity Vulnerabilities: Lessons Learned from Spectre and Meltdown;”
  • Wednesday (10:15 a.m.) House Energy and Commerce communications and technology sub-committee hearing, “Protecting Customer Proprietary Network Information in the Internet Age;" 
  • Thursday (10 a.m.) House Financial Services Committee hearing featuring the annual testimony of Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin on the state of the international finance system; and
  • Thursday (2 p.m.) House Financial Services sub-committee on terrorism and illicit finance hearing, “Countering the Financial Networks of Weapons Proliferation."
