Voters Blame President for Shutdown, Don’t Support Another Poll Finds

Morning Consult, in partnership with POLITICO, ran a survey of almost 2,000 voters. This select group of participants answered a range of questions, including a number of questions about the longest-ever partial government shutdown.

A majority of those polled believe that President Trump was responsible for the shutdown, while 34% say they believe Democrats in Congress were responsible.

A large majority (72%) indicated that they either somewhat or strongly support the agreement that re-opened the government, even though it didn’t include funding for a border wall.

Should the government shut down again, the breakdown of who respondents believed to be at fault is nearly identical to who they blamed for the first shutdown.
