CUNA Engaged with SOTU Address, Financial Service Hearings this Week

CUNA will be engaged with several hearings on Capitol Hill this week, as both chambers are in session and discussions continue regarding funding the federal government past Feb. 15. CUNA will also be monitoring tonight’s State of the Union address for mentions of credit union priorities.

“CUNA has been working hard the last several weeks familiarizing the administration with our 2019 advocacy agenda,” said Eli Joseph, CUNA’s deputy chief advocacy officer.

The State of the Union is scheduled for Tuesday, starting at 9 p.m.

Hearings CUNA is engaged with this week include:

  • Senate Finance Committee open executive session (Tuesday at 10:15 a.m.) to “Organize for the 116th Congress and to Consider Favorably Reporting Nominations;”
  • Senate Special Committee on Aging hearing (Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.): “Financial Security in Retirement: Innovations and Best Practices to Promote Savings;”
  • House Ways and Means Committee hearing (Wednesday at 10 a.m.): “Improving Retirement Security for America’s Workers;” and
  • Senate Banking Committee executive session (Wednesday, 9:45 a.m.) to “vote on the Committee Budget Resolution, and Sub-committee Organization and Jurisdiction for the 116th Congress.”
