WASHINGTON – Credit unions across the country will present a $580,485 donation to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Sunday, the date of two popular, credit union-hosted races. The Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run in Washington, D.C. and the Credit Union SacTown Run in Sacramento, California, along with two races overseas, make up the Credit Union Family of Races.
The Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run will kick off at 7:30 a.m. on the grounds of the Washington Monument. The route will take runners around many of the city’s iconic memorials. There will also be a 5K Walk-Run Sunday, and a Kids’ Run Saturday.
More than 1,500 runners are expected at the SacTown Run, which features a 10-mile race, the UC Davis Children’s Hospital Miracle Mile fun run and fitness walk, and a 5K race.
This year, participants can run the “Homemade-Half Challenge,” a half-marathon. They can run in both the 5K (in less than 40 minutes) and the 10-mile—which adds up to the equivalent of a half-marathon.
Credit unions became the title sponsor of both races in 2002, and more than $8 million has been raised for CMNHs nationwide since then through a collaboration of more than 100 credit unions and business partners.
