Comments on final two CFPB RFIs due in July

Credit unions will have two final opportunities to comment on Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) Requests for Information (RFI) this month. These deadlines will wrap up the Bureau’s series of RFIs on how it functions.

CUNA submitted individual comments for several RFIs, and submitted copies of its comprehensive white paper for the other RFIs.

  • July 9: Bureau financial education programs. Specifically, the Bureau seeks comments and information from interested parties to assist it in assessing the overall efficiency and effectiveness of its consumer financial education programs; and
  • July 16: Bureau guidance and implementation support. Specifically, the Bureau seeks public input regarding the overall effectiveness and accessibility of its guidance as well as changes that it may make, consistent with applicable law, to the formats, processes and delivery methods for providing such guidance. Additionally, the Bureau seeks comment on potential new forms of guidance that could support regulatory implementation and compliance, as well as on the disclaimers used for its non-rule guidance.

CUNA’s responses to the previous RFIs can be found on its advocacy page.
