CUNA to Present at Wednesday’s NCUA Budget Briefing

CUNA Chief Economist Mike Schenk will present at the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA)’s budget briefing Wednesday at NCUA’s Alexandria headquarters. The briefing is scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m. and will be streamed live at NCUA.gov.

NCUA has proposed a $304.4 million operating budget for 2019. The agency has posted a proposed budget summary and a detailed budget justification to its Budget and Supplementary Materials page.

NCUA is required by law to conduct annual public budget briefings and accept public comment due to CUNA’s and the state leagues’ advocacy efforts. These requirements are part of the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief and Consumer Protection Act (S. 2155), which was passed in May. NCUA has voluntarily conducted similar briefings the last few years.

NCUA will be accepting comments on the proposed budget through Oct. 26. The NCUA board is expected to vote on the final budget at its Nov. 15 meeting.
