CUNA Talks CU Jobs, Rule-makings with DOL

CUNA met with the Department of Labor (DOL) Monday to discuss several credit union related issues. In addition to discussions on DOL rule-makings, CUNA provided the agency with data estimating the credit union sector supports nearly 900,000 jobs nationally.

CUNA’s data shows that credit unions report approximately 295,000 full-time equivalent employees as of the end of 2017, and that credit union activity in the marketplace accounts for 588,000 indirect and adduced jobs.

During the meeting, CUNA also raised concerns with the DOL’s overtime rule and other rule-makings. CUNA also discussed association health and retirement plans, the Office of Compliance Initiatives and DOL efforts to hire veterans and encourage apprenticeships.
