Rutgers Camden Campus Holds First Reality Fair in Conjunction with its Money Matters Symposium

CAMDEN, N.J. – Rutgers Federal Credit Union hosted its first-ever Reality Fair on the Rutgers University Camden Campus on Friday as part of the university’s Money Matters Symposium.

RealityFair1Students, both from the university and a nearby charter school, were given an online survey to provide financial information, including estimated annual salaries and credit scores, which the New Jersey Credit Union Foundation used to create customized budget worksheets for each student.

Foundation Executive Director Marissa Anema led each group of students through an orientation before letting them navigate through the Fair’s lifestyle booths, where they spoke with volunteers from various credit unions and the University itself. After visiting each booth, students then sat down with financial counselors to learn from their experience and receive advice on how they managed their finances.

In the afternoon, students had the option to sit-in on a credit seminar led by NJCUL's Barbara Agin, who helped students learn more about what it means to establish credit.

Thank you to the volunteers from Rutgers FCU and Rutgers University as well those from Campbell EFCU, Credit Union of New Jersey, the New Jersey Credit Union League, South Jersey FCU, and Vizo Financial Corporate Credit Union!

Additional photos are available on the Foundation’s Facebook page.
