Friday, July 13th Won’t Be An Unlucky Day For Compliance Professionals
in Compliance & Regulatory
By: David Frankil, NJCUL President/CEO

We’re not trying to send any sort of subliminal message by scheduling the Compliance Conference for Friday, July 13th. But if we were, it would be something along the lines of how compliance is much, much more than just a necessary evil—and how important it is to excise any skeletons in your proverbial closet before anyone from NCUA has to tell you to do so.

And that the regulatory burden is only going to get worse, not better—so becoming adept at compliance is mission-critical.

Nicola has put together a killer conference with content that is relevant to our entire range of members, from small to large, focused on the topics you wrestle with every day, presented by recognized experts in the field.

For example, David Reed will be joining us to focus on “What to Do When Things Go Wrong: 5 Scenarios.” Those of you that have seen David speak in the past know what an extensive credit union client list he has, and I’m going to make the assumption that those five scenarios are drawn from his real-world experiences. Better you learn from others instead of making those mistakes yourself.

Cybersecurity is the next big focus area from NCUA, and credit unions are going to be challenged to come into compliance. We’ll have an entire session devoted to cybersecurity readiness.

You’ll also see some familiar faces from NCUA—this is what we call evergreen content, as in we can include NCUA in our Compliance Conference every year and still see new, fresh topics.

Much more detail to come shortly as Nicola finalizes the agenda, but mark your calendars now for Friday, July 13—this is one conference you can’t afford to miss.
