Accounting Clerk

Atlantic Federal Credit Union is seeking a Full time Accounting Clerk

Atlantic Federal Credit Union currently has the following full time, 35 hour work week, non-exempt Accounting Clerk position available in our Kenilworth office:

Essential Functions

Core competencies include, but not limited to, the following:

·         Prepare and post daily journal entries necessary to reconcile the Alloya Corporate account activity to the general ledger accounts.

·         Prepare and maintain daily cash spreadsheets to reconcile the teller drawer closes to general ledger.

·         Update and maintain credit union branch and ATM activity spreadsheets with deposit and withdrawal totals on a daily basis.

·         Prepare and post daily journal entries to reconcile both member Visa ATM/Debit card, Credit card, and shared branching transactions between the general ledger and the daily settlement thru Alloya Corporate; communicate with Operations/Lending Managers any exception transactions to research and clear out of the general ledger accounts.

·         Perform all tasks associated with the daily posting of corporate draft clearings and follow-up with the Corporate as necessary.

·         On a daily basis, investigate and clear suspense items to assure proper postings.

·         Using the Prologue A/P software, perform accounts payable function to include data entry of

 invoices, disbursing and mailing check along with scanning paid invoices.

·         Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts as assigned.

·         Participate in the end-of-month general ledger closings as required.              

·         Attain and maintain knowledge of all credit union services while maintaining member      confidentiality.

·         Assist the Accounting Manager in working with auditors and examiners in the completion of

the year-end and NCUA exams.

·         Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned

Education and Skill Experience

·         High school diploma or GED is required.

·         Minimum one year of accounting experience is required.  

·         Additional specialized or technical training is desired.

·         Strong interpersonal skills (oral and written communications), active listening, attitude, deportment.

·         Good analytical skills.

·         Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment

·         Proficient in software such as MS Excel and Word with the ability to learn new software programs as required.
