POSITION REPORTS TO:     Board of Directors



The primary purpose of this position is to assist FirstPoint Federal Credit Union in achieving its vision to have a harmonious working environment that creates a dynamic, professional ‘Team’ atmosphere focused on “Improving the Financial Lives of our Members” and providing our membership with state of the art financial services in a friendly, efficient, safe, and secure manner. The President/CEO plans, directs, and controls all credit union activities in accordance with credit union plans, policies, directives, and activities as established by the board of directors. This individual is responsible for ensuring financial stability and member satisfaction commensurate with the best interest of the members, the employees, and the credit union. The President/CEO provides strategic direction, vision, leadership, and management in all functional areas.


1. Direct all credit union operations, which include planning and implementing programs, policies, and procedures.

2. Individually and/or through subordinates provide strategic and/or administrative direction and management in all credit union functions to include: accounting, ALM, business development, compliance, facility management, finance, human resources, investments, lending, marketing, operations, retail services, risk management, and security.

3. Manage the day-to-day operation of the credit union and establish office procedures to use staff and facilities most efficiently, to promote products and services, to provide outstanding member service, and to achieve the goals of the credit union.

4. Develop, recommend, and implement financial policies and procedures.

5. Analyze work flow of the credit union on a continuous basis and make changes to improve efficiency and reduce cost.

6. Ensure that the credit union is in compliance with the federal laws and regulations set forth by the Nation Credit Union Administration and other State and Federal regulatory agencies.

7. Recruit and select quality applicants for management vacancies, ensuring that the credit union is adequately staffed with competent employees.

8. Supervise a budget for the credit union that is consistent with the overall strategic plan.

9. Evaluate the job performance of credit union management to ensure quality service to members.

10. Conduct management meetings on a regular basis to ensure the dissemination of information exchange of ideas, resolution of problems, discussion of trends, etc. Ensure that the information is communicated throughout the credit union.

11. Ensure adequate equipment, supplies, and working space is available.

12. Conduct business development activities to promote growth and development of the credit union. Build positive relationships with the field of membership, and with appropriate trade associations and organization.

13. Provide direction to the Board on compensation philosophy. Plan and recommend appropriate wage and salary structure in accordance with that philosophy.

14. Plan and oversee the employee benefits program, balancing internal demands, equity in the marketplace, and costs.

15. Manage security and safety for the credit union, with responsibility to analyze security and safety policies and procedures, and to alert staff of any changes in a timely manner.

16. Ensure appropriate levels of confidentiality regarding credit union operations.

17. Develop a highly effective team of employees, developing each employee to their highest potential through coaching, leadership, and training.

18. Advise, consult, and serve as the Team Leader of the management team in the development and execution of long-range plans and budgets based on broad organizational goals, strategic planning, and growth objectives.


1. Annual goals and objectives are met.

2. The financial structure of the Credit Union, including the on-going operation of Asset Liability Management system, accounting system, and data processing system is adequate and sound.

3. Operating objectives are established, internal and external measurements are in place, corrective measures are taken as needed, and results are satisfactory.

4. Security procedures are understood and adhered to by all staff.

5. Staff are appropriately directed, assisted, and supported.

6. Good business relations exist with members. Members' problems or questions are courteously and promptly resolved.

7. Good working relationships and coordination exist with officials, management, employees, examiners, and others having business with the Credit Union.

8. Required reports and records are accurate, completed in a timely manner and communicated to all appropriate parties.

9. The Credit Union’s professional reputation is continually improved, maintained, and conveyed.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, accounting, finance, or closely related field, Master’s Degree preferred. Five to 10 years’ experience as a senior level manager within the financial services industry, preferable within a credit union. Must be and remain bondable.

• Working knowledge of lending, collections, member services, cash operations, accounting, information technology, security, investments, compliance, human resources, and marketing.

• Demonstrated knowledge of the financial services industry with specific knowledge of the credit union movement and philosophy.


• Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate others to perform well and accepts feedback from others.

•Delegates work assignments, gives authority to work independently, sets expectations and monitors delegated activities.


• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations, financial reports and legal documents.

• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals/processes.

• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from board members, top management, employees, and public groups/community.

• The individual speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, demonstrates group presentation skills and conducts productive meetings.


• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

• Ability to apply financial concepts such as compound interest, time value of money, tax rates and discounts.


• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions with several abstract and concrete variables.


• To perform the job successfully, an individual should have good working knowledge of word processing software, e-mail software, use of the Internet and the ability to learn internal use software. Must be proficient in spreadsheet software.

• This position also requires regular travel by automobile between branches and occasional travel elsewhere.
