Business Development Executive

Position Summary:

With minimum supervision, the ideal candidate is responsible for relationship building and product offering to existing and prospective Business Partners. Must possess the ability to communicate effectively with prospective and current members while representing the credit union in a positive and professional manner.

Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Assists and conducts new employee orientation presentations at work sites or benefit fairs.
  • Maintains frequent contact with targeted member base to expand member relationships, ensure member retention and meet financial goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate with Branches in New York and New Jersey regarding planned SEG visits and prospecting efforts.
  • Represent XCEL through participation in various community programs and ongoing networking.
  • Foster relationships with key SEG officials.
  • Maintains relationships by ensuring that our SEGs and Business Partners have appropriate marketing materials, campaign and financial information to promote XCEL to their employees.
  • Attends credit union related functions on a regular basis including morning, evening and weekends.
  • Make appropriate referrals to Member Services and Lending Departments.
  • Stays abreast of community trends and economic development changes. Tracks and measures event participation results. Makes recommendations to maximize return on future investments for events, sponsorships, philanthropic initiatives and donations.

Job Specifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, or related field or equivalent work experience Minimum three years sales experience.
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships with prospects, referral sources, and colleagues.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with all professional levels including top executives, management and staff.
  • Solid time management skills to organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of financial service industry.
  • Strong networking ability with business partners.
  • Ability to be proactive, innovative and creative in meeting member and enterprise needs.
  • Highly motivated, self-driven individual who can think strategically, operate independently and take accountability for the function.
