Prepare for the Unthinkable: Employee Safety & Active Shooter Incidents

Tragic events in our communities involving workplace safety and physical security are forcing organizations of all types to prepare for unthinkable situations. The reality is that it can happen anywhere – on or near schools, campuses, military bases, and even at your credit union branches. Unfortunate and traumatic events related to robberies and active shooter incidents are unpredictable and evolve quickly. This session will share important components related to credit union and staff preparation, planning and training. In addition, discussion regarding internal controls, technologies, and action steps to consider will be introduced. Mike Petrone will be the speaker for this webinar. Petrone is a risk management consultant in Business Protection Risk Management for CUNA Mutual Group. In this role, he assists credit unions in identifying areas of risk in their operations and recommends appropriate controls to reduce loss exposures. Petrone began his career with CUNA Mutual Group in 1986 as a loss prevention specialist. He was later promoted to risk management specialist and then to senior risk management specialist. Prior to joining CUNA Mutual Group, Petrone worked as a fraud auditor for the state of Massachusetts. Petrone earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Salem State University. He has also earned the designations of Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Financial Services Auditor (CFSA) and Credit Union Security and Fraud Expert (CUSFE). In addition, Petrone is a licensed real estate broker in Maine and Massachusetts. Based in China, Maine, Petrone serves credit unions in Maine, eastern Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, North Dakota and South Dakota.
