Hearings of Interest to Credit Unions this Week

A House Financial Services sub-committee tomorrow morning will examine the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) and in the afternoon U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin will update the full Financial Services Committee on the international financial system.

Wednesday, the House Financial Services Committee will hold a hearing to review systemically important banks 10 years after the financial crisis and discuss ways to hold big banks accountable.

Also on Wednesday the House Small Business Sub-committee on Economic Growth, Tax and Capital Access will discuss the potential shortfall in funding for the 7(a) loan program and how the SBA's proposal to increase fees could affect lenders and borrowers.

On the Senate side Wednesday, the Finance Committee will discuss the tax filing process and ways to modernize the IRS and on Thursday a Senate Commerce subcommittee will examine ways to eliminate illegal robocalls. The full committee recently advanced legislation targeting robocalls.
