Senator Menendez Names New State Director

Sen. Robert Menendez has named Raphael Chavez-Fernandez his new State Director to lead the senator’s New Jersey offices and staff in Newark and Barrington.  Chavez-Fernandez, who served as deputy campaign manager during Menendez’s successful 2018 re-election run, returns to Menendez’s Senate office after spending the past three years working in the private sector.

From 2013-2016, he worked as an advisor in the senator’s Newark office and as his head of Hispanic community outreach. He returns after spending the past three years serving as a senior associate at global public strategy and consulting firm Mercury Public Affairs.

Chavez-Fernandez grew up in East Brunswick and currently resides in Essex County. He is a graduate of Rutgers University–New Brunswick, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science.
