Robocall Prohibition Mark-Up This Week

On Tuesday the House Energy and Commerce Committee is expected to begin mark-up of the Stopping Bad Robocalls Act which has been reintroduce as H.R. 3375. The NJCUL reached out to the committee chairman Rep. Frank Pallone’s (D-6) office last week to express concerns that any legislative solution to the growing problem of unwanted robocalls not impede a credit union’s ability to contact members for legitimate purposes.

Also on Tuesday, the House Financial Services Committee task force on financial technology will meet to discuss oversight of the FinTech revolution and the Senate Banking Committee will host a hearing on whether Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac should be designated as systematically important financial institutions.

On Wednesday the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship will hold a hearing to examine the reauthorization of the SBA's small business investment company program.

Wednesday marks the 85th anniversary of the signing of the Federal Credit Union Act.

Congress will be in recess next week for the July 4th holiday and district work period.
