Government Funding Extension, Senate FSGG Bill Up this Week

The House will consider a continuing resolution to fund the federal government past September 30, as well as several financial services-related bills under suspension of the rules.

The Senate Appropriations Committee and a subcommittee will also mark-up a financial services and general government (FSGG) appropriations bill for fiscal year 2020. The Senate FSGG subcommittee will mark-up the bill Tuesday, at 2:15 p.m., with a full Committee mark-up scheduled to begin Thursday at 10:30 a.m.

The House-passed FSGG funding provides $2 million for NCUA’s Community Development Revolving Loan Fund (CDRLF) and $300 million for Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) Fund. CUNA will be monitoring the Senate committee mark-ups to ensure both programs are funded at the levels provide in the House version of the bill.

The House Financial Services Committee begins a mark-up Wednesday morning featuring several bills to address homelessness problems, ensure underserved communities are reached, and hold big banks accountable.
