Former Freeholder Announces Run to Unseat Freshmen Congressman Andy Kim

Former Republican Burlington County Freeholder Kate Gibbs officially entered the race this week to take on first-term Democrat Congressman Andy Kim (D-3) next year.

Gibbs is the deputy director for the Engineers Labor-Employer Cooperative (ELEC 825) of the Operating Engineers Local 825.

Prior to her election to the Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders, she served on the Board of Trustees for Rowan College at Burlington County.

Gibbs earned a graduate degree in finance from Drexel University and her undergraduate degree from American University where she majored in public communications and political science.

A Rhodes scholar who served as a U.S. State Department civilian advisor to two generals in Afghanistan and later as a White House national security staffer, Kim has proven a solid credit union supporter during his freshman term in Congress. He has meet with credit union advocates whenever asked, has supported the industry on numerous occasions, and was the guest of honor at the NJCUL’s annual Advocacy Appreciation Reception in October.
