Governor Murphy to Take Helm at Democratic Governors Association

Governor Phil Murphy is in San Francisco where Tuesday he will take the reins of the Democratic Governors Association (DGA). His predecessor, Governor Chris Christie, used his chairmanship of the Republican Governors Association (RGA) to raise his stature nationally.

Christie unsuccessfully sought the GOP nomination for president in 2016.

As he prepares to take over as DGA chair, Murphy insists his tenure will be different than Christie’s RGA term. "It’s pretty clear, with hindsight, that was about him,” Murphy said during an interview last week with NJ Advance Media. “And for me, this is about Jersey.”
