Republican Mike Testa Sworn-in as State Senator

Michael J. Testa, the Republican who won a special election to fill the state Senate seat held by Democrat Jeff Van Drew before he was elected to Congress, was sworn-in as New Jersey's newest state senator last week.  He was named to the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee and the Senate Labor Committee.

Unlike the GOP assemblymen-elect who with Testa made a clean Republican sweep in the 1st Legislative District, he doesn’t need to wait for a new legislative session to take office. Running mates Antwan McClellan (R-1) and Erik Simonsen (R-1) will be sworn-in when the 219th Legislature convenes January 14.

An attorney from Vineland, Testa is co-chair of the Donald Trump 2020 reelection campaign in New Jersey.

He earned his undergraduate and law degrees at Villanova University and completed an LL.M. at Temple University.  He is a partner, Testa Heck Testa and White, P.A, and is a past chair of the Vineland Downtown Improvement District.
