HUD Nomination Advances, SBA Nomination Before Committee Today

The Senate Banking Committee yesterday advanced the nomination of the Brian D.  Montgomery to be Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) deputy secretary and federal housing commissioner.

President Trump nominated Montgomery in January. He has been serving in the role on an acting basis. Currently, he also serves as HUD's assistant secretary for housing. Montgomery replaces Pam Patenaude who resigned at the end of 2018. She previously served as HUD’s assistant secretary for community, planning and development during the Bush (George W.) Administration.

The Senate Small Business Committee is set to hear today from Jovita Carranza who has been nominated to head the Small Business Administration (SBA). Carranza currently serves as U.S. treasurer within the Treasury Department, and previously served as deputy SBA administrator.
