ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – New Jersey Credit Union League (NJCUL) President/CEO David Frankil kicked off the NJCUL’s 84th Annual Meeting & Convention at the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City Monday morning during the Opening Session, which also featured CUNA Mutual Group-sponsored Keynote Speaker Jonah Berger.

NJCUL President/CEO David Frankil welcomed attendees and discussed the League's initiatives that make it a "catalyst for member success."

Frankil went over the League's advocacy endeavors, education and training, programs (including a revitalized CUGreenLoans Program), and the future priorities for 2019.

After, Frankil introduced the CUNA Mutual Group-sponsored Keynote speaker Jonah Berger to the stage where he gave a presentation on the power of influence and how it shapes the behavior of others.

The effects of social influence Berger reviewed included:

  1. Imitation;
  2. Differentiation;
  3. Identity-Signaling;
  4. Optimal Distinction; and
  5. Motivation.

After Berger went over each effect of social influence, he ended his presentation by going over the next steps for attendees to take, which include spotting influence in your own life and understanding how to use it.

Jonah Berger has released his latest book titled Invisible Influence: The Hidden Forces That Shape Behavior, which played a key part in his discussion of influence.
