CFPB Hosting a Debt Collection Town Hall in Philadelphia

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) announced a May 8, 2019, Town Hall in Philadelphia, Pa.  The Town Hall meeting will also be available through live stream to the public. The meeting will focus on debt collection and feature remarks from Director Kraninger as well as comments from community groups, industry representatives, and members of the public.

It is likely, per the CFPB’s past practice of releasing rules during or prior to a scheduled Town Hall, the Bureau will be issuing its anticipated notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) on debt collection that same day. The CFPB Director also highlighted the debt collection rulemaking in a public speech last week, and said the NPRM would be released “in the coming week.”

Those interested in attending the Town Hall can RSVP here.
