Advanced Financial FCU Receives Community Charter Expansion Approval

NEW PROVIDENCE, N.J. — Advanced Financial FCU recently announced it has received approval of its community charter expansion application by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA).

The expanded community charter will allow the credit union to expand its services beyond its original community charter of Union County to include neighboring Essex County, N.J. The credit union will now serve “persons who live, work, worship or attend school in, and businesses and other legal entities in Union County or Essex County, New Jersey.”

Founded in 1965 as BTL Federal Credit Union to originally serve the financial needs of Bell Labs employees and their family members, Advanced Financial FCU received its first community charter status in 2002.

“This is great news,” Advanced Financial FCU President and CEO Alan Feigenbaum said. “We are now able to bring community-focused financial services to neighboring Essex County. This is a good fit for the credit union as we already serve Blue Cross Blue Shield employees who work in Newark, N.J. The expansion will allow us to bring more services to existing members, as well as to expand services to the entire Essex County community.”
