XCEL FCU Board Elects New Leadership; Phyllis H. Ford to Serve as CU’s First Chairwoman

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – The Board of Directors of XCEL Federal Credit Union has announced a change in leadership. At XCEL’s annual meeting held in June, the Board of Directors elected Phyllis H. Ford as the new Chairwoman. Ms. Ford has served on the Board since 2008 and was previously Vice Chair. Elevated to the Vice Chair vacancy will be Suzanne Taylor.

Serving on the Board of Directors is a volunteer position.

Ms. Ford brings a wealth of leadership experience to her new position. She currently serves as Division Director of Oversight and Accountability, Office of Housing Counseling for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. She earned a Master of Arts degree in Organization Development and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Administration from Antioch University Yellow Springs, OH. Ms. Ford is the first African-American and the first woman to serve as Chair.

Ms. Taylor came to the Board through the Supervisory Committee where she serves as Committee Chair. She successfully completed the Credit Union National Association Volunteer Achievement Program requirements to obtain a Board Financial Literacy certificate. Ms. Taylor is currently employed with the Township of North Bergen as the Qualified Purchasing Agent.
