Rutgers FCU Hosts Second Reality Fair at Rutgers University

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. – Rutgers Federal Credit Union hosted its second Reality Fair at Rutgers University on the college’s Cook Campus on Friday.

The Reality Fair was held in conjunction with a seminar, led by Rutgers FCU’s Pamela Callender, on credit scores to help students learn more about what it means to establish credit.

Students were given an online survey to provide financial information, including estimated annual salaries and credit scores, which the New Jersey Credit Union Foundation used to create customized budget worksheets for each student.

Foundation Executive Director Marissa Anema led each group of students through an orientation before letting them navigate through the Fair’s lifestyle booths, where they spoke with volunteers from various credit unions and the University itself. After visiting each booth, students then sat down with financial counselors to learn from their experience and receive advice on how they managed their finances.

Thank you to the volunteers from Rutgers FCU and Rutgers University as well those from Advanced Financial FCU, Alloya Corporate FCU, Credit Union of New Jersey, Garden Savings FCU, the New Jersey Credit Union League, United Teletech Financial FCU, and Visions FCU!

Additional photos are available on the Foundation’s Facebook page.
