Arlene Bernard Named CEO of XCEL Federal Credit Union

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – During the annual strategic planning session, after a vote from the full Board of Directors, Chairwoman Phyllis Ford named Arlene Bernard as the permanent CEO of XCEL Federal Credit Union.

Bernard had previously been serving as the CFO and Interim CEO. Bernard brings decades of credit union experience to her new position having served as CEO of St. Vincent’s Federal Credit Union in New York City for 16 years and interim CEO at XCEL FCU since October. Chairwoman Ford said, “We are grateful Arlene has accepted the position on a permanent basis. The Board has been very happy with her service since taking on the Interim CEO position while at the same time maintaining her CFO responsibilities.”  

Three other executive appointments were also announced:

  • Tom Quigley of Pompton Lakes, NJ was promoted to Chief Marketing Officer and Vice President.
  • Kevin Murphy of Old Tappan, NJ was recently hired as Chief Lending Officer and Vice President.
  • Donna Mongiello of Lyndhurst, NJ was promoted to Director of Human Resources.

XCEL Federal Credit Union is headquartered in Bloomfield, New Jersey. Founded in 1964 to serve the employees of the Port Authority of NY & NJ, it now serves all federal agencies, municipalities, and private companies. XCEL has over 200 select employee groups and 20,000 members in its field of membership.
