Chester Elton Opens Day 2 of Annual Convention

The second, action-packed, content-filled day of our 85th Annual Convention opened this morning with Chester Elton’s keynote address sponsored by CUNA Mutual Group, “The 5 Disciplines of High-Performance Teams.”

In his address, Elton discussed the ways organizations are moving to more team-based work, yet the overwhelming majority of executives cite poor collaboration as the main culprit of a workplace failure. He answered the question, “How can managers better lead teams to improve performance given the volatility and challenges teams face?”

Elton shared his research findings that define a set of leadership disciplines, which make the biggest difference. These disciplines apply the new science of leadership to speed productivity, inspire innovation and robust debate, manage generational differences, and create true alignment around customers.

Today’s sessions continue with Solutions Theatre presentations, an NCUA/NJ DOBI Roundtable, and various breakout sessions.

This evening will be the dinner banquet and awards ceremony. Tomorrow’s sessions feature Rich Jones and Rayleen Pirnie. Stay tuned to The Daily Exchange for coverage of these events.
